Walter and I married on New Year's Eve...December 31, 1998 and have lived basically 'Happily Ever
Since'.
We met when being set up on a blind date by missionaries from church and were engaged within a month
and a half of our first date and married three months later ! (Shari knew a good thing when she saw one!!!)
We married in the Dallas Texas Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for "Time
and All Eternity" which is an incredible and lasting experience to say the least !
We enjoyed a 2 1/2 week Honeymoon to the Breckenridge, Colorado area where we spent our time not
only enjoying winter activities but also holed up in our own, private cabin bed and breakfast (Western Skies near Keystone)
complete with everything including our own woodstove and hot-tub.
Things couldn't have been more perfect. Well, I say that but Walter made two trips to the emergency
room with chest pains....needless to say we now vacation at slightly lower altitudes though we have not forsaken the mountains
by any means!
Walter works as a Project Manager in the computer industry for a small company and Shari used
to work as a Professional Organizer before a surprise back surgery in 1999. Since then she has stayed home and worked
on writing a book and also on a lot of family history ~ one of the reasons for this page!
Currently we live on our "Dream Property" ~ a cabin in the woods on 8 1/2 acres in a rural north
Texas community. We have room for all of our horses and dogs, as well as our own year-round stocked pond for fishing
and fun. We have recently begun to clear out some of the wooded area behind our house for a "Wilderness Trail" back
to our Wildlife habitat. We are fortunate to have a lot of trees and a neighboring lake. We are in a very
secluded area which we enjoy.
For fun we breed TLBAA Registered Texas Longhorn Cattle and Barbados Sheep. We love being
surprised with babies in the field several times a year and there is certainly never a dull moment! We also dabble in real
estate and enjoy the day to day challenges it brings while we plan for our future.
Our home is small but cozy and we particularly enjoy the winter time ~ especially with the addition
of our new fireplace!
After a decade-long career in the music business Shari used to participate in Professional Rodeo
as a barrel racer until her surgery and also enjoys ballroom and country dance.
Walter enjoys BIG things (A "Man Trait" !) and likes to work in his garage on old cars as well as
recreational shooting.
We adopted our first child Garrett Haston Guess in September 2002 from LDS Family Services and surely
stay busy with our growing boy ~ See Garrett's page for photos!!! We currently don't have any plans to
grow our family beyond this point.
We have several dogs and some that come and go (See the Doggie Page) and recently aquired a new horse,
a gelding named Denver.
Most important in our lives are our Families, our Faith and Each other !
